North Wake Household Hazardous Waste Facility is a municipal hazardous-waste program in Raleigh. They accept electronics including cell phones, batteries (alkaline (aa, aaa, c, d, 9v), button cell, and lithium primary), and paint products such as latex paint (10 gal limit), oil-based paint, and paint thinners. Cost: Free for Wake County residents. Hours: HHW collection event Sat 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM (currently displaced due to fire damage). An appointment is required before drop-off. North Wake HHW currently undergoing rebuild after 2024 battery fire. Temporary Saturday collection events at same location. Also accepts CFLs, fluorescent tubes, propane tanks, pesticides, and other HHW. Latex paint can be dried with kitty litter and put in regular trash. Restrictions: Residential waste only. No business/commercial. No lithium car batteries or generator batteries.
